3. For question #2, explain how your new post successfully addresses the three main objectives of Plain English writing as discussed in class. Provide a detailed breakdown of each objective. (9 Marks)
Clarity – The old version has good information, but some parts were wordy. The new version simplifies key points, making sentences shorter and more direct. Example. Old – “Owning a pet is excellent, but let's be honest – it is much work, too.” the new – “At Happy Tails Pet Experts, we know how much your pet means to you.”. Removing unnecessary words and getting too straight to the point.
Readability—The old version had bullet points, but the layout wasn’t as scannable. The new version enhanced readability by using headings to break up sections, bolded key phrases so readers find the most important details instantly, and added emojis for a friendly, engaging feel.
Engagement—The new version starts with a clear value statement: “Quality Pet Services Tailored for Your Furry Friends.” It also has a stronger CTA with direct wording: “Book Your Pet’s Appointment Today!” instead of a vague “Call to action here” in the old version. The new version will also include an image of a happy pet to increase visual appeal and engagement.
